Character Pillar Proclamations:
Each month the Queen Anne's County Commissioners proclaim a pillar of the month. Community organzations or a member write the proclamation that is read by a Commissioner on the last Tuesday of every month at the QA County Commissioners meeting.
The Pillar for November is Citizenship
Thank you to the Auxiliary of the Centreville American Legion for writing this months proclamation for CITIZENSHIP.
The work of the Auxiliary is to promote patriotism and to teach good citizenship in the home, in the Unit, in youth groups and schools, in adult groups and in our community. They encourage us to take an interest in our country's affairs; express our love for America in our words and deeds; inspire children and young people to develop fine character, high ideals and an appreciation of our heritage; be tolerant in thought and deeds towards others; vote intelligently and proudly fly our nation's flag. They want all citizens to understand the processes that create and maintain the laws and to honor the value of volunteering within the community to help others. They encourage citizens to realize that even one good act can positively affect an entire community.
