ENFORCING UNDERAGE DRINKING LAWS
Queen Anne's County's Community Campaign to Address Underage Drinking targets the enforcement of underage drinking laws in Maryland. The project includes the launching of a media campaign to impact the social acceptance of underage drinking as a "rite of passage". It engages youth in the formation of the campaign message, fact sheets and brocures to be distributed to the community, and design of a website to promote prevention efforts and positive youth activities.
GOALS:
- Decrease parental approval of underage drinking
- Increase knowledge of the dangers of adolescent alcohol use
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
- Change the acceptance of underage drinking as a "rite of passage"
- Prevent adolescents from starting to drink by providing fact and statistics on the website and through the community media campaign
- Promote positive youth development activities
