EARLY EDUCATION:
- Education World offers an Early Education Community with ideas, activities, and poems for young children.
- Stories to Grow By is a collection of folk and fairy tales based on themes of human ethics.
ELEMENTARY STUDENTS:
- Bam! Body and Mind was created by the Center for Disease Control for children as an interactive way for kids to learn about the body, diseases, and physical activity.
- Mouth Power shares the secret of a healthy smile - taking good care of your teeth! An animated character will guide children through the proper techniques of oral hygiene.
- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers kid-friendly materials and teaching tools, including the "Safe Street Crossing" Method.
- PBS Kids is a home of favorite PBS Kids' characters with thousands of pages of learning and fun to explore.
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS:
- This Anti-bullying website supports a belief that children and young people have the right to live, play and learn in environments with a non-bullying mindset.
- Congress for Kids is a site for youth to learn about the history and role of the federal government.
- Kids Health offers homework health and information on how the body works for kids.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:
- Easing the Teasing is a program created a licensed clinical social worker that addresses the problem of teasing and how it can lead to verbal bullying.
- Kids Health gives answers, advice, and straight talk for teens.
- Street Law, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing practical education about law, democracy, and human rights.
- Youth M.O.V.E. MD is a youth led organization dedicated to helping create positive change in the lives of young people throughout the state of Maryland.
PARENTS:
- The America's Promise Alliance has become the nation's largest partnership providing supports to young people.
- Because I Love You supports parents with troubled children of any age by promoting structure, consequences, and consistency.
- Common Sense Media is a non-profit organization designed to help parents and kids have a voice and a choice when it comes to the media they consume.
- Connect For Kids works to connect concerned adults with accurate information on children's issues.
- Education.com provides support for parents and their children through the whole education experience. This site has excellent bullying discussions.
- The Family Health Administration works to protect, promote, and improve the health and well being of all Marylanders. Look under Health Promotion to find information on safety seats.
- The Forum for Youth Investment includes Karen's Youth Today Column which covers a variety of children's topics.
- GetNetWise is a public service web site designed to help internet users have a safe, enjoyable and educational experience online.
- Good Knight Child Empowerment Network is a group that empowers children by instilling the knowledge and awareness for self-protection.
- Grants Alert monitors national and local funding opportunities that will help teachers, schools and others.
- Common Sense Media has released an article entitled, "How Rude! Manners for the Digital Age" that discusses online etiquette for children AND adults.
- I-safe, a nonprofit internet safety foundation, provides age-appropriate curriculums (K-12) to schools free of charge and also has cyber safety programs for educators and parents.
- Kids Health includes facts sheets, news, and practical parenting advice.
- The Library of Congress is encouraging reading by offering complete books that can be read online, book clubs, webcasts of authors reading their own books, and much more.
- The Maryland Center for Character Education is dedicated to making a difference in the ethical lives of individuals and the entire community through education, example, and action.
- Mom's Mini Van includes family-friendly restaurants, hotels, and activities for safe and fun family travels.
- The National Assembly of Health & Human Services' mission is to "engage leaders of the national nonprofit health & human services sector in collective efforts to advance the effectiveness of health & human services in the United States."
- The National Center for Family Literacy is an online magazine that gives parents strategies to make reading fun and has a guide to age-appropriate books.
- The National Child Care Information Center offers technical assistance that links parents, providers, policy makers, researchers, and the public to early care and education assistance.
- NCAA Division II Community Engagement's objective is to encourage the community to come to campus and experience Division II Collegiate events.
- Parents is a new tool is from the US Dept of Health and Human Services and helps parents talk with their teens about relationships and abstaining from unhealthy behaviors.
- Polly Klaas is a national nonprofit that helps find missing children, prevents children from going missing, and promotes laws like Amber Alert that help keep children safe.
